It'SnoWonder

February is officially Springtime in Ireland.
The grass is beginning to shoot up, thick and green, and the daffodils in my garden are promising to flower any time now. Our trees, which for months have resembled nothing but dead sticks, are showing signs of life and there is evidence of new growth on the rose bushes.
So of course it's only natural that we're getting the first Snow of the season now. Not even pretend-snow, mind you, but the proper big white fluffy flakey kind. The kind that turns into brown slushy stuff in no time. What on earth posessed me to choose today, of all days, to wear a skirt to work??! It's bloody freezing outside!
I'll tell you a secret, though - I actually don't really mind. I love the snow. It's so pretty! I'm quite captivated watching it waft down silently outside the windows. Ja, not getting too much work done at the moment, hehe... If I were a poet, I'd be inspired to write something, I'm sure.
I do hope it settles a bit and stays around before melting today - at least long enough for me to go out and take a photograph or two. I'm a real girl-scout, me* - I brought my camera with me today, just in case.

* "Be prepared", and all that

We want pictures!

Lovely description of the garden and the snow.

"If I were a poet, I'd be inspired to write something"

Very interesting - I happen to know that you are an excellent writer. No poetry?

It's February and here in Boston we've gotten a TOTAL all winter of about an inch of snow. Global warming and all its erratic-ness.

If I didn't know better, I'd be jealous.

Jason - Um, sorry to disappoint but it pretty much all melted by the time it hit the ground and by the time I got outside at lunchtime the snow had turned to boring old rain. Maybe next time..?

Kyknoord - As many as possible, always ;)

Ben O - Thx for the compliment, but I'll leave the poetry writing to those of you who do it well.

Rhea - Best thing that ever happened to Ireland, I reckon ;)

Anne - Ah but you do, so you aren't... besides, you get more snow in Paris than we do here, I'm sure. In which case, we want pictures!

If it is springtime in Ireland, it can only mean that it's autumn down here.
Bring on the pictures!

Nope, there's been hardly any snow here, sorry! :)

Chitty - I'll put in an order for fresh snow tonight specially so I can take pics for you, 'kay?

Anne - Tellya what, you let me know when big snow is expected and I'll come help you take pics, yes?

Springtime? I think I'll have to wait for global warming to feel any warmth. It's so cold here. Or maybe it's warm already and I've just sustained permanent brain-freeze earlier... Springtime you say? I'm so jealous, lucky girl! =)

Ugh - 'Molly' is me... But it really isn't, it's just an alias. Damn technology!

I'm jealous - we just got cold, miserable rain down here in the Middle of Nowhere.

Where are the pics????

I also love the snow and I have found a lot of S Africans, Ozzies and other warm climate types feel the same. When it snowed while at work in Nottingham one day, all the aforementioneds couldn't stop hanging round the windows and going outside at various times during the day just to look and touch. The English thought we were off our rockers.

-ann - So I've heard. Lotsa mud, too eh?

Nomad - Bah humbug, no pics. I could take some of the rain, I guess, but that just wouldn't be the same. Hey wait a sec - you should get plenty snow in Amsterdam... you got anything bigger than a phone-camera yet?
