Another week done

I seriously have to figure out a way to NOT have to work for a living. This is killing me. The day we flew back from New York I had these weird itchy red bumps on the palms of both hands that I am loath to call Hives but that seem to appear in times of severe stress. (The first time I had them was right before I got married.)
I couldn't figure out what I was worried about - I had had a really relaxing week and there was nothing huge on my mind. Work was going well, in fact life was pretty much smooth sailing all around.

But I think I've figured it out - the thing that was worrying me subconsciously has come to pass.
I have once again been sucked into the gray monotony that is the life of a thirty-something working professional woman / wife / (step-)mother. Wake up. Shower. Eat. Got to work. Smoke at 11. Lunch at 1. Smoke at 3. Home. Dinner. Laundry. TV. Bed.
Granted, I sometimes get a bit of a rush on the bike on the motorway coming home - if it's not blowing gales or p*ssing rain outside.

I was happy when January ended. The days are starting to get longer, the daffodils are beginning to make an appearance. Yesterday it actually felt warm at around 10 degrees C.
I got a promotion this week - and an increase and a bonus. I was really pleased about all three; I've been with the company 51/2 years and I've worked really hard so I feel I deserve the recognition.

At the same time... I've been working there 5 1/2 years!!! The same place, the same faces, for five and a half years.

If it weren't for the trips we take I think I would go stark raving mad or simply expire, becoming nothing more than another speck in the gray mush of the daily grind.

Is anyone prepared to sponsor me to travel the world? Please? In return I can tell you all about it - I can take pictures too!

Happy Friday, everyone.

Keep your chin up .... there are many who didnt get a raise, promotion or a bonus :-)....
The sun will shine soon and you can revert to being a hoon on your bike :-)
Also, you have a "thing" to look forward to and loads of planning that should keep you occupied...

That's so cool that you visited New York and met Anne!

I hear what you're saying. I've been at this firm for 11 years. My motivation is at an all time low.

I hear you x 2 if you find someone to sponsor you can I tag along? Congratulations on your promotion, I have been in my job 6 and half years now and on my 7th boss - Yea, I don't know what I do to them ;) hee hee, but I wish I got a decent increase just once! Chin up and keep smiling, summer is just around the corner (well what they call summer anyway)!

Hang in there. (And if I could offer a counterpoint to 5 1/2 years in the same place - I've been laid off 4 times. I've been at my current job a year and am ecstatic that I still have a job. :))

BTW, I LOVED your NYC story. Very well written and interesting. We went in 2000 and had a great time, although I didn't find it quite as friendly as you did.

One thing... if you find someone who's willing to sponsor you, can you ask for me to be included? I could be your faithful sidekick/interpreter...

'me' - Thanks for the pep talk. I get it - be positive and all that.

Jason - Meeting Anne was a very cool thing to do. 11 years, eh? I'm impressed. If you want motivation, read "me"'s comment above. Sort of.

Rose - Sure, the more the merrier. Remind me not to take a job as your boss.

Beads - You just let me know when you win the Lotto, 'kay?

-ann - Well I guess congratulations on still having a job :-) I know I shouldn't gripe, but y'know, sometimes we just have to.

Anne - An interpreter could actually be quite useful, so okay then, I'll let you know when Beads wins the Lotto.

Angel - Ja I'm not so much into tattoos myself and as for the hair, don't even go there! My last cut was a disaster; I'm waiting for it to grow out so I can get it fixed a bit. But you feel free to get another tat, if you like :-)
