We went on a 2-day hike years ago through the Tsitsikama Forest on the south coast of SA and the moment I remember most was when we stopped for a rest at a shallow river, with crystal clear water trickling over smooth moss-covered stones, and dappled sunlight illuminating the trees and ferns around us, birds singing... but everything slightly muted by the surrounding forest.
Wow, thanks for reminding me.Terrihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03158421102740382411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11797778.post-1150126592463807182006-06-12T16:36:00.000+01:002006-06-12T16:36:00.000+01:00Aw, Terri, flowers... you shouldn't have, really. ...Aw, Terri, flowers... you shouldn't have, really. When I get to the beach it fills my soul. standing there in the sand, feeling the wind on my face and looking over the Gulf of Mexico.
I also like watching the colors in the clouds when the sun goes down at night. We don't get them in Ireland but yes, I know what you mean. The electric storms in SA used to give me a huge buzz & make me go just a touch moggy.

Livewire : 'Putz'. Yes. Good word. I could think of a few others but Putz will do for now.

Kyknoord : Y'know, you'd get on really well with my mother. You could see who'd out-corny each other (geddit? I'm sort of easy on the soul-filling stuff - I get so much joy out of simple things...splashing in puddles, the light on an autumn morning, walking in the woods.

Friday night, Peter and I got ice creams at Teddy's and then walked out to the end of Dun Laoghaire pier. We sat down at the end and were just hanging out. Even though it was 10 pm, it was still dusk and the sky was pink and orange in the west. Then I saw him - first a little seal nose, then a head as he had a look around, finally the rest of his body as he floated to the surface. I was so excited, I couldn't say anything - I was just pointing like a fool.

Moments like that - when everything is perfect and then one of your favourite things comes along. It just doesn't get much better than that.

PS - I know what you mean about blogger. Unexpected maintence, migrating databases.
