This morning I walked to the train station to catch the 9am commuter service to the city, nothing out of the ordinary except it was a beautiful, stunning morning with hot sunshine - proper hot, not just Irish hot. As usual there were people milling around waiting, like me, for the train so as not to have to wait another 45 minutes for the next one.
The train steamed up, beeped and opened its doors, I stepped inside and found myself in The Twilight Zone.
There was not even one person in the carriage!
Normally I'd be lucky to find a seat... If it hadn't been for the other three women who'd got on at my station as well, I may have just stepped back onto the platform and waited for the next one regardless of probably being late for work. Judging by the expressions on the other three women's faces they were just as confused - where were all the people??? Maybe they were kidnapped by aliens or sucked into a black hole or something. I didn't want that to happen to me, not when I've only just moved into my pretty new house!
But as it turned out I made it into work OK so all is well.
So there ya go, good news today: Terri has not been kidnapped by aliens.

Let me guess. You were the only one at work 'cos you forgot that it was a bank holiday...
Just kidding!
I think they were probably *cough**cough* "sick". Goodness knows, when the weather is that nice, it's hard to be a good kid and go into work. (For the record, I did!)
spooky- like the train in the matrix!
it's the same feeling i get when i drive to work and get NO traffic!
The aliens don't know how lucky they are.
That damn mystery illness seems to be making a come-back then. Good weather must make the spores circulate ;)
Hey - I was not a train in the matrix ok!
Sometimes everyone is just late oon the same day or whatever. I like the twilight zone, it's an interesting place I tell ya.
Freaky experince! I would have blamed a rift in the space/time continuum and gone home... any excuse not to go to work.
At least you had the train all to yourself, which can only be good.
ooooooeeeeee - missing any of your annoying co-workers??? One of my annoying co-workers has been missing in action since yesterday. Just thought that maybe the Annoying Terrestrial Space Ship arrived and left all us good people here and kindly removed the annoying ones....just hoping..
Ha ! The "sickness" you all just alluded to must have finnaly got her... Guess who didnt make it in to work today...? I said maybe it was too much sun - not on her ....just around !! :-)
Ok she got the "Dreaded Lurgy" from the aliens......
Or perhaps she is thinking about which puppy to get her puppyless hubby as a Birthday gift....Hahahaha !
Delboy - Ha ha you crack me up, Cuz. I always figure that out before I actually get on the train!
-ann - The thought did cross my mind but y'know normally you'd see a slight drop in the number of people commuting, but surely not EVERYONE on the same day?!
Angel - Yep, just like the train in The Matrix. Only, y'know, above ground and without people trying to beat the crap out of me or the Chinese family.
Kyknoord - Thanks, mate.
Fence - Aye, dat's what it must be :)
Spookie - lol! If you like the Twilight Zone you should come visit Terriland sometime haha!
Chitty - Trust you to turn a weird experience into an opportunity. I think I'll have to get me a wrist band that says "What Would Chitty Do" and every time something odd happens I'll use it for inspiration.
Buddess - How exactly do I contact that ship and does it take requests?
Bosbefok - Wow, you just don't give up, do ya, Honey?!
Considering the temperatures here, if I found an empty train, I would probably stay on it all day long. I'd open all the windows and enjoy the breeze.
Oh I can feel it, and it's good...!
Thank god for no alien probing such a thing could ruin a day.
I would probably have done the same thing, Terri. If no one else had gotten on I would have been so freaked out I would have stepped off.
Anne - Think Air Conditioning, Sweetie :-) There are very few windows that actually open on these trains. Yet another reason to Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid...
btw It's really hot here so I can only imagine what Paris must be like. You have my sympathies.
Lori - ...or make it, depending which way you look at it I suppose LOL!
Jason - Actually it turned out it may not have been my regular train because it 'terminated' 2 stations before mine and I had to hop off and change to another one... one that came from the same direction and was a lot better populated. Which still doesn't solve the mystery of what train I was actually on because the one before mine is normally more than 30 minutes earlier and if a train is 30 minutes late it would normally be MORE full than usual, not LESS. Know what I mean?!
Jeff - Yes, but I'm a girl lol! teehee You're fun to tease ;-)
Faak visie(Tired Fish) I did not know that a steam train was still running in that zone. Thought they were all wood driven. Are you sure the so called train steamed up or were the windows just wet. It sounds as though you did not actually get out of bed on this great summers day.Did you partake in an African tabacco rev?
OOOh if the train had been taken over by aliens and your were kidnapped just think of the stories you could of told us on your blog. :)
How they wisked ya away to another dimension were there were all kinds of aliens who treated ya like a queen.
Wow, kinda makes you wonder just what happened at the last stop!!! =)
Anonymous Tired Fish - The train is driven by Diesel, but 'steamed' sounded much better than 'belched' in that sentence. As for the rest... I wish ;)
Beads - You make it sound like fun!
Livewire - I even considered the thought that maybe all the passengers were still there, I just couldn't see them...!!! (Me? Paranoid? Who said that?!)
eKapa - Oops! I almost didn't see you there behind the fish ;) Best seats in the house? Those you can sit on haha! I prefer a window seat so I can lean my elbow on the window-ledge (it's tricky cos the ledge is narrow - takes a bit of practise) that way my arm can prop up my head so I can sneak in an extra 30mins sleep a day, each way ;)
