One Moon

One night, not long after we moved to Ireland, I was speaking to my Mom in South Africa and I remember saying how beautiful the moon was, and I wish she could've seen it. She laughed.
"We have the same moon here, remember?"

Thanks for reminding me, Ma. Now when I look up at the moon I know you can see it too and you don't seem so far away.

It's my Mom's birthday today and I'm missing her like mad.

Happy Birthday Ma!!!

I also made that mistake when I left South Africa and told a friend of mine I wish she could see the moon ... your Mom's response was way more polite than the one I got. Congratulations for your Mom's birthday. On days like this I always think that we weren't meant to live our lives so far away from those we love. Hope you are feeling much better and that you celebrate the occassion.

Ooh, joyeux anniversaire, Mrs. Terri's mum!
Beautiful picture as always, Terri. Very atmospheric, and almost like a painting.

Dawn - yes, it isn't really such a small world is it?

Anne - Glad u like the pic, Anne. I only had to take about 20 photos to get just the one that I was happy with.

Jason - Sometimes the small things in life are what make it special.

Beads - I have it on good authority that Mom had a good birthday. When I phoned her last night she was just breaking out the tequila :-D jokes!!! it was wine teehee

Happy Birthday to your Momma.

You do know, don't you, that the moon is upside down from the N Hemisphere? Or, alternatively, upside down from the Southern one?

Which possibly explains why those in the northern hemisphere refer to the man in the moon whereas some in the southern one refer to th rabbit in the moon.

Or is it the other way round? Confused myself now.

Nomad - You think you're confused? I heard someone in Ireland once tell someone else that the sun rises in the west and sets in the east in the Southern Hemisphere.

Jeff - Thanks :)

Tammy - Hi! Nobody ever said life was easy eh?

Dawn - You're welcome. Although perhaps I should change that particular heading to 'Blogs I Read as Often as I Can'... the word 'Regular' is a bit of an overstatement these days ;)

Angel - You sure know how to liven up a party, doll! :D
